Telegram is finally rolling out its long-awaited group video conferencing feature. The app is known for providing secure messaging and calling services, and the new group video call feature will be no different.
Secure Group Video Calls Are Coming to Telegram
In a post on Telegram, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced that group video calls are coming to the app sometime in May 2021.
“We will be adding a video dimension to our voice chats in May, making Telegram a powerful platform for group video calls,” Durov noted. But that’s not all—Durov also mentioned that calls will be encrypted, just like the other services on the app.
The group video call feature will be just as capable as other popular video conferencing apps. It will include noise-cancellation, tools for screen sharing, as well as desktop, tablet, and mobile support. The only difference is that it will have “Telegram-level UI, speed, and encryption.”
Telegram launched one-on-one video calls in August 2020, and users have been waiting for group video calls ever since. Now that they’re here, you’ll likely be able to add Telegram to the list of reliable video conferencing services.
Move Over Zoom… Telegram Meetings Are Coming
We’re looking forward to seeing how Telegram’s group video conferencing feature looks and functions when it arrives. Who knows—maybe Telegram will take Zoom’s spot as the go-to video conferencing service for workplaces.
