After a successful test of the 4K photo upload capability, Twitter has rolled out the feature to all users. Here’s how to enable it on your device:
- Swipe to the right or tap on the hamburger menu in the top left corner to open the navigation menu.
- Tap on Settings and privacy.
- Select Data Usage.
- Tap on High-quality images uploads.
- You’ll be presented with three options: Mobile data & Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi only, and Never. Choose the option you prefer.
You can also choose when you want to view 4K photos by tapping on High-quality images, right below the High-quality images uploads option.
These 4K images offer clearer, sharper pictures with more details than the default resolution. But before you enable the feature, it helps to be aware of the effects of doing so.

Higher Data Consumption
If you’re trying to minimize your data usage, you’re better off sticking to the default upload resolution. Uploading and viewing photos on 4K resolution on Twitter will consume a lot more data than the standard upload setting.
However, you can get around this by choosing the Wi-Fi only option. This way the app only loads 4K images when you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Slower Load Times
4K images are generally larger than the default upload standard. And as a result, they take longer to load.
You’re unlikely to notice this on a very fast network, but if you ever need to access Twitter with a slower connection, you may notice the difference in load times—which can be frustrating.
Get the Most Out of Twitter by Enabling 4K Images
