At CES 2021, HP has launched a range of new laptops in the Elite and Envy range, a new tablet called Elite Folio, and also new true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds. The new HP Envy 14 is powered by 11th Gen Intel Core processors and can pack up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q graphics. The Envy 14 includes a physical shutter for the webcam and an intelligent AI Noise Removal feature. HP has also introduced the HP Elite Dragonfly G2 and HP Elite Dragonfly Max laptops, a new HP Elite Wireless Earbuds, and HP Elite Folio tablet PC.
HP Envy 14 price, specifications
HP Envy 14 is priced starting at $999 (roughly Rs. 73,300) and is expected to be available sometime in January via HP.com. The laptop features a 14-inch WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) multitouch-enabled IPS display. It is powered by the 11th Generation Intel Core i5-1135G7 SoC and can integrate up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti with Max-Q graphics. There’s 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD storage, and the laptop runs on Windows 10 Home. The HP Envy 14 has a 720p HD camera with camera shutter and integrated dual-array digital microphones.
There’s audio by Bang and Olufsen with dual speakers, backlit keyboard support, and Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 connectivity options on the HP Envy 14. It packs a 4-cell 63.3 Wh Li-ion polymer that claims to offer up to 16.5 hours of battery life. The HP Envy14 includes a physical shutter for the webcam and a dedicated mute microphone key on the keyboard. It also has AI Noise Removal to intelligently mute background noise when using speakers, headphones, or the microphone during video chats, audio calls, and recordings. Ports include Thunderbolt 4, Display port, two USB Type-A ports, one headphone mic combo, one AC Smart pin, and one HDMI 2.0 port.
HP Elite range of laptops
In the Elite range, HP has introduced HP Elite Dragonfly G2, HP Elite Dragonfly Max, HP EliteBook 840 Aero G8, HP EliteBook x360 1030 G8, HP EliteBook x360 1040 G8, and HP Elite x2 G8 laptops. HP Elite Dragonfly G2, HP Elite Dragonfly Max, HP EliteBook x360 1030 G8, and HP EliteBook x360 1040 G8 are expected to be made available in January, HP EliteBook 840 Aero G8 is expected to be available in March, while the HP Elite x2 G8 is expected to be available in April. Pricing is expected to be revealed closer to launch.
Starting with the HP Elite Dragon G2 and HP Elite Dragonfly Max, the two convertible laptops are powered by the latest Intel 11th generation Tiger Lake processors, and new Intel integrated graphics. Both have a 13.3-inch display and offer up to 32GB of RAM. The HP Elite Dragonfly G2 weighs less than 1kg and includes audio by Bang & Olufsen. There’s a 720p HD camera on board with a shutter button on the keyboard. The HP Elite Dragonfly Max is made available in Sparkling Black or Dragonfly Blue colour options. It has four wide-range microphones with AI-driven audio optimization and a 5-megapixel + IR web camera with manual shutter.
HP EliteBook x360 1030 G8 and the HP EliteBook x360 1040 G8 are both powered by 11th Gen Intel Core i5/i7 U-Series processors. The HP EliteBook x360 1030 G8 features a 13.3-inch FHD or UHD display, whereas the HP EliteBook x360 1040 G8 gets a 14-inch FHD or UHD display. There’s up to 32GB of RAM and up to 2TB of SSD storage offered on both the laptops. They come with Intel Iris Xe graphics and offer Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 support. The two laptops are also convertibles and can be used in tent mode as well.
The HP Elite x2 G8 laptop has a stand at the back and is built to be paired with HP-branded displays and accessories. It is powered by the 11th Gen Intel Core i3/i5/i7 U-Series processors paired with up to 16GB RAM and up to 2TB SSD storage. There is a 47Whr battery on board and a 13-inch touchscreen display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Lastly, the HP EliteBook 840 G8 Aero is powered by the latest 11th Gen Intel Core processors and supports Wi-Fi 6 and 5G connectivity. It has an integrated 720p HD camera with a privacy shutter. There’s also a world-facing third microphone (outside the lid of the laptop), top-firing speakers, and AI-based audio support. The HP EliteBook 840 G8 Aero sports a traditional laptop design, has up to 64GB RAM, up to 2TB of SSD storage, and Intel UHD Graphics.
HP Elite Folio tablet PC
HP Elite Folio is expected to be available in February and pricing is expected to be revealed closer to availability. This one is a notebook PC that features a pull-forward form factor to make it usable as a tablet and a laptop. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G compute platform and supports Wi-Fi 6 and optional 5G connectivity. The HP Elite Folio offers up to 24.5 hours of local video playback, and has a 76-degree field of view webcam, dual microphone array, and high-definition speakers with audio by Bang & Olufsen. It features a 13.5-inch display with optional HP Sure View Reflect privacy panel, and an HD webcam with a built-in privacy shutter for enhanced security.
The device also includes the HP Elite Slim Active Pen with an integrated charging and storage cradle for quick access. It can pack up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The HP Elite Folio has two USB Type-C ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a Nano-SIM slot. The HP Elite Folio comes in a single Shadow Black colour option.
HP Elite Wireless Earbuds
The pricing and availability of the new HP Elite Wireless Earbuds are not known yet, but the TWS earbuds come in a USB Type-C charging case and support Bluetooth v5. Each earbud weighs only 8 grams, while the charging case weighs 66 grams. The earbuds support active noise cancellation, and the driver size is listed to be at 9.2mm. It takes about 120 minutes to fully recharge the case. The rest of the features of the earphones have not been revealed yet.
