Twitter is testing a feature that will bring a massive improvement to the Twitter experience: YouTube videos that play in the app. This may sound insignificant, but it will finally enable you to watch YouTube videos without leaving Twitter.
Watch YouTube Videos From Your Twitter Feed
In a Tweet, the Twitter Support team announced a test that will make YouTube videos playable from within Tweets. Twitter also included a GIF of what the feature will look like, which allows you to smoothly scroll through your feed and watch any YouTube videos that pop up.

Previously, you’d have to click on a link to the YouTube video, and then watch the video in the YouTube app instead. Leaving the Twitter app every time you want to watch a YouTube video definitely isn’t ideal.
The test is currently being rolled out on iOS devices only, so Android users will, unfortunately, have to wait a bit longer to see this feature appear on their devices.
Just before this announcement, Twitter unveiled another feature it’s working on to improve the visuals on the app. It’s testing larger, accurate image previews that have a “what you see is what you get” sort of approach.
Twitter Is No Longer Just for Tweets
Twitter isn’t just for text-based Tweets anymore. It’s a hub for sharing photos, videos, voice Tweets, and even engaging in audio-only voice chats in Spaces.
